Biography
Jane LowBeer is a printmaker and mixed-media artist whose studio is based in the countryside of Peterborough County. In her art practice she often recycles her old monotypes, cutting and sewing them into new pieces. Her artwork is a wayfaring for our perception of objects, landscape, climate and our tenuous place in this world. There is often a spirit of play and a kind of visual poetry in her work.
She started her artistic career as a printmaker, studying with Stanley Hayter at his famous Atelier 17 in Paris.
During her career she has exhibited in New York, Montreal, and various places in Europe. Her works have garnered her prizes and are included in private and public collections including The Victoria and Albert Museum in London and Biblioteque National in Paris. For almost twenty years she designed and constructed sets and a huge variety of puppets as artistic director of the multi-media theatre company, The Crankee Consort.
With the closing of the artist-run Loop Gallery in 2020 she is looking for new venues to show her work.
